Mountains and skiing in Catalunya!
December 18th, 2006
If you are interested in nature you need to go to the beautiful area in in the northern region of Catalonia! This is the only national park in Catalonia and it is called Agüistortes and is situated not far away from the border to France, in the heart of the Pyrenees.
I was there a month ago, and even though it might be a bit far away from Barcelona, it is definitely worth going there if you have a couple of days off.
There are about 200 lakes in the area with green-blue water that reflexes the surrounding high mountains and the green forest. Actually the name Agüestortes comes from “windy waters” because of the various rivers that divide into numerous channels along their way. So do not forget to bring the camera!
Besides all the routes for walking that you can find, this has also got a lot if skiing resorts to offer for those who like to go skiing. For example Port Ainé, Espot esqui or Baqueira Beret . Let’s just hope for more snow to come to start a new great white skiing season!
