Get lost in Barcelona’s Labyrinth Park

March 6th, 2007

What about playing Alice in Wonderland for a little while?! You might need to imagine the white rabbit with glasses jumping around you but the rest of the scenery you will have right in front of your eyes.

Entering Barcelona’s Labyrinth Park is like arriving at this imaginative world where you can let yourself get lost (literally!) in the many winding paths created by the high, green hedges.

I must admit that it gives me a special thrill of walking around in circles, and sometimes ending up in the same place where you were a couple of seconds ago. Maybe because it gives me the chance to feel like a child again, like when I used to play hide and seek with my friends in our huge garden. However, in the Labyrinth Park you will have enough trouble figuring out where YOU are before you go abo utchasing somebody else…

The Labyrinth Park in Horta is actually the oldest park in Barcelona built by the Italian Dominic Bagutti in 1791, and consists of different green spaces with stairways, pavilions, ponds and sculptures. From the 1970´s it is open to the public to enjoy its beautiful nature, and during the summer period classical music concerts are often organised in this neoclassic environment.

There are plenty of parks in Barcelona, but I can tell you that the Labyrinth Park definitively belongs in my list of favourites!

See you there!

the scene where they play in the labyrinth? it’s shot here and it looks even nicer than it is!
Absolutely recommended and not very well known… I think, you might help more people to know about it :-D

That sounds curious. I haven´t seen the film though. Maybe I should so I can recognise the park! ;-)

Hi!! I love this place! I went there when I was very young…and I got lost. I still remember all the teachers of my school trying to find me, it was very funny ;)
