SwimmingWhen you´ve had a hard day at work and your back is aching from sitting at your computer all day, there is nothing better than going for a swim! I spent a long time looking for a fitness centre in Barcelona with a decent-sized swimming pool for some proper sports in the evening. I need the action now more than ever, after a festive season packed with chocolate, mince pies and many days spent lazing around!

Barcelona Grand prix!

Friday, December 29th, 2006

If you are a racing enthusiast or even if you’re not, and have a bit of spare cash lying around, I would really recommend a trip to the Barcelona Grand Prix in Montmeló.

I’ve been two years in a row now and it really is a fantastic day (or weekend) out!
The race takes place each year in May, normally the first or second weekend, and the track is located about 20 minutes by train from Barcelona centre.

O.k. so the tickets are quite expensive and a bit of forward planning is involved, but it really is worth it. You can by tickets for the race day only, or 2 and 3 day tickets for the practise days. You can also see races for formula 2 cars and Maseratis. (more…)

I thought that the people in the Netherlands were very football minded but here in Barcelona the whole society is just mad of football; there are lots of football- channels, bars, shops, clubs, and it is amazing to see that the whole city supports the team. I heard that when Barcelona became the champion of the Primera Division last year and the year before that everyone supporting the team came to the city centre to celebrate the championship. The city centre and surrounding areas were totally packed with cheering, screaming and singing people, and when they won the Champions League last year it was even more spectacular. It must have been an amazing experience being there, if they achieve it this year I am certainly going check it out.
