Barcelona Casino, It’s all in the luck of the dice!

Tuesday, April 17th, 2007

Well this weekend was a little different to my normal nights out in the city that never sleeps. For a bit of a change from the usual bar and club scene, me and my friends decided to go to Barcelona’s port-side Casino to try our luck.

We started off with some dinner at a restaurant called ‘Agua’ on the sea front. It’s quite pricy but this was our night of extravagance and it’s such a cool place, with views of the sea and a large terrace. There are lots of other nice bars and restaurants in the area so it’s definitely worth a visit.

ROSES, A PERFECT PLACE TO GO FOR HOLIDAYS!!

Thursday, April 5th, 2007

Guys!! I had one of my best holidays ever in this small town, located in the heart of the “Costa Brava”. Only 2 hours north from Barcelona by car, Roses combines all the best characteristics for a really enjoyable week-end or maybe even more days: the beach is very large and beautiful, there are lots and lots of pubs and discos, there are many cultural places of interest and there is a great mix of nationalities, due to its’ proximity to France and the rest of Europe. My weekend sampling Barcelona’s Nightlife!

Monday, April 2nd, 2007

I have been living in Barcelona for nearly 6 months now, and what I really like about the city is that it is incredibly multi-cultural. Besides the great Catalan/Spanish culture, I have got in touch with a large group of people from different parts of the world. Barcelona attracts people from from all over and the fact is that when you come to Barcelona for a longer period you will make friends from many different cultures and nationalities which is a great experience!

Go for tapas! A very Spanish and tasty treat!

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

I really love the Spanish life style! I think they know how to throw a good party, they usually eat very tasty food and they have big get-togethers with lots of people!

A normal Tuesday afternoon after work can start with: “Vamos a tomar algo?” (Do you want to go for a drink?) and then before you know it the night’s almost over and you’re coming home late again - maybe even too late to sit and spent a few minutes in front of the television!

Barcelona joins the Irish to celebrate St. Patrick’s day!

Monday, March 19th, 2007

I’ve celebrated St. Patrick’s every year since I was old enough to go to the pub, not because I’m Irish, but because it’s such a famous celebration that you’re guaranteed a good night out, and Barcelona’s St. Patrick’s day merriment was certainly no exception.

WHAT WE HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR, CARNIVAL IS HERE!!!

Monday, February 19th, 2007

Hi everybody!!

I hope that most of you had the chance to go to Sitges last weekend! For those who didn’t, it’s not a problem…you have the last opportunity to go on Tuesday!! Without any doubt, it’s something you cannot miss if you are staying in Barcelona.

In my case, I decided to go on Saturday. Although it is not one of the big days of Carnival in Sitges (the important days are on Friday, Sunday and Tuesday), the party was totally amazing!!! The town was bursting at the seams; it’s incredible how many people were outside in the streets and inside the many pubs!! And obviously, most of the people were dressed up…me also ;) (more…)

TIBIDABO, the backdrop to Barcelona!

Friday, February 16th, 2007

Barcelona has many symbols, whether it be Gaudi’s famous Sagrada Familia, the colour-changing fountains of Plaza España or the Ramblas, but for me an important and always visible symbol of Barcelona is ‘Tibidabo’. But what is it????

Well, it is quite simply a mountain to the North of the city, topped with a huge white church which can be seen from all corners. Tibidabo literally means ‘I will give to you ( all that you see)” which is apparently what the Devil said to Jesus whilst stood at the top of the hill. And he would have got a lot, since you can see the entire city from this point, from the Olympic park to the twin towers and beyond. On a clear day (which we are blessed with many of in Barcelona), you can see the bright blue coastline and even a boat or two if you have very good eyesight.

Monday, February 12th, 2007

Go out and get a buzz with a difference! Located in the heart of the Eixample, the Shadow Lounge, on Consell de Cent 223 in Barcelona is pioneering what has become a new trend in bars and night clubs from London to San Francisco since the late 1990s – the Oxygen Bar! This is supposed to be the next generation of excitement on a night out! The concept of a healthy and casual OXYGEN BAR, is partying, combined with healing! CHURROS y CHOCOLATE – The end to a perfect Barcelona night!!

Wednesday, February 7th, 2007

Hello everybody!!

I feel the necessity to talk about my last Saturday night out in Barcelona. I had what I call the “perfect evening”! I’m not just talking about going out with friends and coming back home around 6am (actually, as most people who live in Barcelona do). What I’m talking about is much better!! A really, really fantastic evening that only happens every now and again (it’s difficult to keep up with the lack of sleep every weekend!!).

So, the evening started at 7 pm, meeting with friends in a bar in the city centre. We stayed for around 2 hours, having a few beers. Then, we decided that we had had enough beer and we went for dinner to a very nice restaurant. We ate pasta and pizza, accompanied by good red and rosé wine. Mmmmmm, we had an incredible dinner and we decided to continue with the evening’s entertainment… we went to a pub at around 12 pm…you know, just more drinking and dancing ;) And finally, we still had energy to go out to one of the big clubs in Barcelona!

“L’EIXAMPLE” BARCELONA… A MUSEUM ON YOUR DOORSTEP

Monday, January 29th, 2007

Without any doubt, L’Eixample is one of the most beautiful quarters in Barcelona! Actually, if you have the chance of going for a walk down any of the many amazing avenues and streets, you will see the area looks like a museum…an outdoor museum!

I live in L’Eixample and I really think it is one of the best areas in Barcelona in which to live. The streets and buildings are often breathtakingly beautiful and extravagant and there are lots of things to see and amazing places to visit. Bordered by the ‘Gran Via’ in the south and ‘Diagonal’ in the north, this large quarter is considered to be the birthplace of Modernism. Apart from the impressive buildings, the layout of the streets could be considered a work of art in itself. Like ‘The Big Apple’ – New York city, the streets have a block layout, so it’s both practical and very difficult to get lost (well for most people!). (more…)
