Barcelona Casino, It’s all in the luck of the dice!

April 17th, 2007

Well this weekend was a little different to my normal nights out in the city that never sleeps. For a bit of a change from the usual bar and club scene, me and my friends decided to go to Barcelona’s port-side Casino to try our luck.

We started off with some dinner at a restaurant called ‘Agua’ on the sea front. It’s quite pricy but this was our night of extravagance and it’s such a cool place, with views of the sea and a large terrace. There are lots of other nice bars and restaurants in the area so it’s definitely worth a visit.

So at around 10.30, we decided to make our way to the Casino, which is just five minutes around the corner. There is a dress code, but it’s not all James Bond tuxedos, so as long as you’re looking smart it’s fine, oh and you have to be 18 (so you need some form of ID).

It’s the first time I’ve been inside a proper Casino and it felt like I was on a film-set. I have to admit that I was a bit nervous, being a beginner and all, but they have these booklets telling you about each game so it’s fairly easy to pick up games like roulette or Blackjack.

I stuck to the roulette tables and after about 4 games found myself doing better than expected, of course this didn’t last, and by about 1.00 I’d spent my Casino funds. Still that was the point of the evening, and I’m surprised I lasted as long as I did. But if you’re not all that bothered about the actual playing, there are several bars and restaurants in the complex to keep you entertained.

After the Casino, all dressed up and with no plans in particular, some friends persuaded us to go to Catwalk, a discotheque also located in the Villa Olympic port area.

It was a really great night, and real laugh to do something different. I’ll definitely be dragging some of my buddies to the Casino some time soon. It’s a good place to be in a group, and there’s nothing quite like experiencing the celebrity lifestyle for the evening (even if you go home with a bit of a lighter pocket!!!).
