A new weekend in Barcelona brings a new chance to see another area of the city, find more shops, visit new bars and make new friends. Or, if you have found a place you like, you can just plan a big night out. Last weekend I went for the first time in a long while to the club DANZATORIA, high on the hill close to Tibidabo. This is a truly spectacular club, built on 4 levels with different bars and different music styles on each floor. Many people go here, however, for the most amazing garden. Rather than to try to describe it, you can see the photos for yourself, on: www.danzatoria-barcelona.com. It is a dangerous place though, as entrance is often free, but the drinks are pricey. For cheaper cocktails you should stick to the hundreds of cocktail bars in the BORN area!

It´s not just a city, it´s a WAY OF LIFE! Barcelona is not the place I had imagined. At times I feel it is a quiet and relaxing home with hundreds of cosy cafés – like CAFFE D´ARTS on C/Bruc or my most favourite BORN COOKING on C/Corretger for the BEST home-made cakes in town, where you can sit for hours and dreamily watch the world go by! But at other times this city is a living and breathing creature with fire in her eyes and musical surprises around every street corner! You only need to take an early evening stroll on any Sunday around the Barcelona cathedral in the city centre and on one corner you will hear a soft Spanish opera singer and on the next corner you will find a group of 6 students playing loud funky Jazz to finish off the week.
You can check out the current Barcelona Jazz Festival at www.barcelonajazzfestival.com. They can blow their own trumpet as one of the best around in terms of the quality programming this year! This festival lasts until the 5th December.

Living and working in Barcelona through the summer AND the winter is something you need to experience if you are the kind of person who is inspired by culture and moved by art and, like me, if you are always looking to discover new places and to meet new people. I had lived before in a new country every year for 6 years, studying and learning to speak various Germanic languages, but the fact that I have remained in Barcelona for the past 3 years now tells me that there are still things I obviously have to do here and things still to be sussed-out about the city!

I don’t think there are enough words in my vocabulary to do Barcelona justice. It is THE most exhilarating city I have been to.
You can while away literally hours on the Ramblas alone, watching the amazing street performers, listening to wonderful musicians, grabbing something new and exciting to eat, and simply sitting on a bench and people watching.
…And then there is the beautiful beach…
…And the fantastic food…
…And the legendary nightlife…
…And the incredible architecture…
…And the wonderful weather…
…And the fascinating history…
…And the amazing art…
…And the irresistible shopping.
